O Lord! Be Benign

May Indra, the Lord of everything, and Vrddhashrava, the One who hears everything, be beneficial for us! May Poosha, the One who nurtures all, and Vishvaveda, the Knower of all, take care of us! May Tarkshya, the One whom we should try to know about, and Arishtanemi, the Destroyer of sorrows, remove all our sorrows! May Brihaspati, the Lord of all the big things in this Universe, give us immense happiness!

The words Indra, Vrddhashrava, Poosha, Vishvaveda, Tarkshya, Arishtanemi and Brihaspati do not refer to separate gods, as is often mistakenly believed, but represent various facets of the one and only God who rules the Universe. We remember Him by His many names in order to remember and appreciate these various facets.
